The Art Room is an imagined concept for a community centre for creativity, expression and transformative experiences.
The inspiration behind this is derived from the collection of memories I have, from every art room I've been in — where each space shaped my understanding and personal navigation of the world.
When I was younger I was often to be found in the art room of any school I attended —before school, break time, after school. It was my safe, explorative space where I felt powerful, seen and present in the world. This imagined space is everything I could have wished for as a child — and as an adult, something I'd wish for too.
The Art Room welcomes everyone all ages and backgrounds. As you enter the building, I want the noise in your head to soften, your thoughts to come clear and for you to have the feeling of endless possibility.
